Liverpool will fancy themselves to go all the way in the current campaign, with the pressure now firmly on Manchester City to make the most of their game in hand.
The Reds have silenced a number of critics in recent times as they’ve moved on from their slight rough patch, with their recent victory over Bayern Munich highlighting just how strong they can be.
Although, with a busy schedule on the horizon it’s important that Jurgen Klopp continues to get the best out of his players, including Virgil Van Dijk, who made a rare mistake at Craven Cottage yesterday.
But, that mistake didn’t faze Sky Sports pundit Nick Wright as he’s claimed (as per Sky Sports) that Virgil Van Dijk has already justified his £75 million price tag since moving to Liverpool.
‘The £75m transfer fee Liverpool paid Southampton last January was deemed steep by some at the time, but Van Dijk has justified it emphatically. As well as providing consistent brilliance in the Premier League, he has been vital to Liverpool’s Champions League progress. He even scored their second goal in last week’s last-16 win over Bayern Munich’
‘He has become arguably the best central defender in world football this season and he certainly has a strong case for being the Premier League’s top performer.’
It’s understandable that Wright is gushing over FSG’s masterstroke signing as the Dutchman has developed into arguably one of the best central defenders in world football, if not the Premier League, as he continues to work wonders at the heart of the defence for Liverpool.
Many Liverpool fans will agree that the Dutchman has more than justified his hefty price tag since moving to Anfield as he’s cured their defensive problem and has spearheaded the Reds’ silverware push.
