Queens Park Rangers will be without loanee Brighton midfielder Taylor Richards again tonight after a pre-Millwall injury update.

The Lowdown: Hoops off to steady start…

The Hoops are off to a steady start as manager Michael Beale looks to make a success of this 2022/2023 Championship season.

Indeed, QPR have won three, drawn two and lost three of their opening eight league matches before they take on Millwall tonight at The Den, who have come out victorious just once in their last five.

Beale has had to cope with a few injuries problems lately, including former England Under-21 captain Jake Clarke-Salter, who has been suffering from a hamstring issue.

While Clarke-Salter is set to finally return to training, the same cannot be said of Richards, who is now one of the only players still nursing problems after picking up a thigh injury last month.

The Latest: Richards out…

The QPR midfield ace, on a temporary spell from Brighton, remains unavailable with Beale explaining to the media that his side are ‘without’ him for Millwall tonight.

He explained (via West London Sport):

“Luke Amos has been back in training, which is great. Jake Clarke-Salter will be back with the team on Thursday or Friday.

“That leaves us just without Taylor and there are a few others nursing niggles. There is a false reality that football players play when they are fresh. Most players play when they have a few niggles and aches all the time.”

The Verdict: Setback for Beale…

Called ‘quality’ and ‘composed’ by Birmingham City academy coach Steve Spooner during his time on loan there last season, we believe Richards will be a great option once he returns for selection.

The former England Under-17 international will also be looking to impress both QPR and Beale enough to potentially persuade them to trigger the buy option in his temporary deal contract.

For now, though, it appears the west Londoners are minus his presence for tonight’s clash across the capital.
