QPR: Hoops make offer for Elijah Dixon-Bonner

Spotland Stadium, Rochdale, Britain - August 31, 2021, Liverpool's Elijah Dixon-Bonner in action with Rochdale's George Broadbent.

Queens Park Rangers have offered free agent Elijah Dixon-Bonner a contract at Loftus Road, according to reports in the last 48 hours.

The Lowdown: Beale’s connection

The midfielder worked his way up through the ranks at Arsenal before making the switch to Liverpool but now appears to be swapping the Premier League for the Championship.

The 21-year-old’s contract on Merseyside expired at the end of last season, which resulted in him getting released, and Michael Beale appears to be keen on a reunion having previously worked alongside the player in the Anfield academy.

The Latest: QPR make Dixon-Bonner offer

According to West London Sport, QPR have ‘decided to offer’ Dixon-Bonner a contract after being ‘on trial’ with the second tier outfit for the past few weeks.

The report states that the Hoops are ‘looking to sign’ the former Reds starlet, who they consider to be a ‘similar type’ of player to that of Luke Amos, making him a ‘useful option’ to have in the squad.

The Verdict: Exciting addition

Given the fact that this signing holds no risk due to Dixon-Bonner being available on a free, it could prove to be a smart move and one that QPR may well be confident in completing.

The Harlow-born ‘enforcer’, as hailed by sports journalist Josh Bunting, scored four goals in 15 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool’s youth side last term, and has the versatility to play anywhere across a midfield.

Beale will know Dixon-Bonner better than anyone having cast a watchful eye over him for many years, and there’s no doubt that the boss will feel he can get the best out of him in seasons to come.
