Rangers could have missed out on Alfredo Morelos

Alfredo Morelos has certainly made a name for himself during his time at Rangers and has quickly become a favourite with the fans in that short time.

The Colombian, who has once again been in fine form for Steven Gerrard’s side, joined the Light Blues in the summer of 2017 under the management of Pedro Caixinha.

However, it appears that things could have been extremely different for the Scottish Premiership side, as they may have never been able to have brought the striker to Ibrox.

According to a report by The Daily Record, Morelos is believed to have had an offer from an unnamed side in Spain following his impressive spell in Finland.

Although the offer from the southern European country would have ticked a number of boxes for him, it is understood that Rangers was deemed better for the player in terms of footballing reasons, whilst he was also impressed with the conversations that were held.

The Verdict:

Morelos is, arguably, one of the only good things to have happened to Rangers during Caixinha’s reign at Ibrox.

The striker has become a really important player for the club since joining arriving from HJK Helsinki for a £1million – a fee that could be considered a real bargain.

Gerrard will be looking for the Colombian’s performances to continue to a high level, but it could have been a real case of ‘what could have been’, should he have decided to make the switch to Spain instead of Scotland.
