Rangers’ disappointing 2-1 defeat to bottom-of-the-league Hearts on Sunday could be crucial in the title race, with their title rivals beating Ross County 3-0 the day before. Never mind how displeased fans were after the game, many were annoyed before it too, when the line-up was posted and Nathan Patterson wasn’t even in the squad.
The 18-year-old academy graduate impressed when he made his debut against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup, according to Rangers News, and with James Tavernier out of the game, some thought he might have been given the nod. However, Steven Gerrard went with the experience of John Flanagan instead, leaving Patterson out completely.
The left-back has played four times in the UEFA Youth league this season too, and he’s managed to bag a goal and an assist during those. Rangers could have done with that against Hearts, and before the game fans showed how annoyed they were that he wasn’t involved.
