Rangers: Fans blast James Tavernier after captain shows support for Steven Gerrard

Lots of Rangers fans have been lashing out at James Tavernier, after the captain called for support for Steven Gerrard in the wake of the manager’s alarming comments.

Following the defeat against Hearts, Gerrard set alarm bells ringing in the blue half of Glasgow with his post-match comments, admitting it was the lowest he’s ever felt as Rangers boss, per Sky Sports. Tavernier has placed his backing behind the gaffer though, as The Daily Mail report.

“We have lost it again, so we are going to look at ourselves as the gaffer has given us everything. We want him to be here, definitely. He has driven the standards right up and, if selected by him, we have to deliver,” he said.

This has caused quite the stir on Twitter, where fans were already fed up of the 28 year-old’s recent form and even asking whether he should be stripped of the captaincy. Despite racking up three goals and 14 assists in all competitions this term, it appears fans have had it with the right-back, as you can see in the Twitter reactions down below…
