Rangers: Fans criticise Florian Kamberi for frequently straying offside against Braga

Rangers striker Florian Kamberi was given his first start for the club by Steven Gerrard in Wednesday’s Europa League win against Braga, with the 24-year-old selected at centre-forward in place of the suspended Alfredo Morelos. However, the on-loan attacker was subjected to criticism from quite a few ‘Gers fans over one aspect of his performance.

As noted by BBC Scotland reporter Alasdair Lamont, Braga played with a high defensive line and it worked to an extent as they frequently caught Rangers, and indeed Kamberi, offside regularly. Indeed, the Light Blues attacker was flagged offside on no fewer than six occasions – twice as many as the rest of his team-mates put together, while the home side were not offside once during the entire game (as per WhoScored).

Ironically, when Rangers had a goal disallowed for offside, it was Scott Arfield and not Kamberi who was thwarted by the assistant referee’s flag. However, that didn’t stop these ‘Gers fans on Twitter from calling out the 24-year-old striker over his tendency to stray offside so often:
