A number of Rangers fans have not reacted well to a tweet from the club (@RangersFC) confirming that VAR will be in use at Ibrox on Thursday for the Europa League last 32 clash against Braga.
The ‘Gers shared a tweet from UEFA (@UEFA) outlining how VAR can be used in its competitions, with the technology potentially called upon for four match-changing situations – goals, possible penalties, potential red card incidents and instances of mistaken identity.

In the Europa League, VAR is introduced from the beginning of the knockout stages, whereas the technology is utilised from the play-off rounds onward in the Champions League. It has also been introduced to the English Premier League this season, although not to everyone’s liking.
As noted by BBC, several managers and pundits have slammed the use of the technology, while several Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was livid after Harry Maguire was not sent off for a potential red card incident in their defeat to Manchester United last night, even after a VAR review (as per Daily Mail).
