Rangers: Fans fume at Joe Aribo’s omission from starting XI against Braga

A number of Rangers fans vented their disgruntlement with one aspect of Steven Gerrard’s team selection upon seeing the starting line-up for this evening’s Europa League clash against Braga after it was shared on Twitter via @RangersFC.

The starting XI in Portugal showed four changes from Sunday’s 2-2 draw at St Johnstone, with the fit-again Borna Barisic coming in at left-back for Andy Halliday and George Edmundson replacing Nikola Katic at centre-back. As Gerrard had hinted, Florian Kamberi started up top in place of the suspended Alfredo Morelos.

However, the omission of Joe Aribo proved a sore point for many of the Ibrox faithful, with the 23-year-old’s goal at McDiarmid Park three days ago not enough to keep him in the team, with Steven Davis restored to the midfield. A number of ‘Gers fans on Twitter felt that the ex-Charlton man should have been selected in a wide attacking position instead of Ryan Kent, who came into the match having scored just once in his first 10 games in 2020. Here is a flavour of the Rangers fan reaction to Aribo being left out of the starting XI:
