Rangers fans may have been pleased after getting back to winning ways in the league following their 2-0 victory over Motherwell, though some supporters were fuming after Alfredo Morelos was sent off for his goal celebration in the second half.
Nikola Katic had earlier given the Gers a first-half lead after nodding in from a corner, while the temporary Scottish Premiership leaders held on rather comfortably despite their disadvantage following their striker’s latest red card.
Morelos appeared to gesture offensively towards the home supporters after doubling Rangers’ lead and was shown a second yellow by referee Don Robertson.
Many supporters took to Twitter to voice their displeasure over the decision, which will see Morelos miss Rangers’ trip to Hibernian on Friday night.
As seen from the replies below, there was certainly a feeling that the referee was overly harsh on the Colombian, with some claiming that other players would not have been treated in the same way:
Don Roberston has lost the plot

That’s the worst red card ever, brutal decision from the referee. Absolutely killing the game 🤦🏻♂️

shocking decision especially if the Motherwell fans were giving him pelters all day, is he supposed to take it and not give any back?
