Rangers: Fans laud Connor Goldson after ‘immense’ defensive display against Braga

Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson came in for plenty of praise from the club’s supporters after his ‘immense‘ performance in their 1-0 win away to Braga on Wednesday which ensured qualification for the last 16 of the Europa League.

The 27-year-old was slated by Kevin Kyle earlier this week, with the former ‘Gers striker telling the Open Goal podcast that he feels the defender “gets away with murder” in terms of the level of scrutiny over his performances. However, Goldson responded to that criticism by delivering a stellar display at the Estadio Municipal.

He won three headers against Braga and made a grand total of 14 clearances, as well as playing his part in Ryan Kent’s goal as it was his interception which started the move that led to the ex-Liverpool winger finishing to the net for the game’s decisive moment. Rangers News writer James Black hailed a “solid performance” from Goldson while The Scottish Sun‘s Colin Duncan said that he “made good use of the ball from the back” and “bravely threw his body on the line at every opportunity”.

These ‘Gers fans on Twitter were also full of praise for the 27-year-old, who has played every minute of the team’s Premiership and Europa League campaigns this season, following his contribution to the win in Portugal:
