Fresh from scoring a hat-trick against Hamilton on Sunday, Jermain Defoe celebrated his 37th birthday amid stories of Rangers looking to retain his services as reported by The Evening Times.

Despite being back-up to Alfredo Morelos, Defoe currently sits top and three goals clear of the pack in the race for the Scottish Premiership golden boot. With 9 goals at a very impressive rate of 1 every 39 minutes, Defoe is proving to be a more than able deputy.
Rangers fans are lucky to have two high-quality goal-scorers in their squad and, more importantly, both are seemingly happy with the role that they are asked to play when you consider the fact the ex-Tottenham ace reportedly wants to stay. Indeed, when speaking to the Daily Record earlier this month, Defoe opened up on the two’s close relationship off the field.
Fans of the Ibrox club took to Twitter to join them in wishing Defoe a happy birthday and making a wish of their own.
