Rangers overcame Maribor 3-1 on Thursday night thanks to goals from Alfredo Morelos, James Tavernier and Lassana Coulibaly. The Gers are in a very good position to win the Europa League third-round tie but will need another big performance in Slovakia next Thursday.

rangers looked like a title-winning team all over the pitch against Maribor on Thursday and it will be just a matter of time until the Scottish Premier League table starts to reflect the way that they’ve been playing. Gaining a draw at Pittodrie is not easy and the fact that they were so close to a big three points despite having ten men for over 75 minutes says a lot about how well Steven Gerrard has the Bluenoses playing.
The next test for Gerrard and co comes on Sunday when they face St Mirren at Ibrox. If the Ibrox faithful can continue their unbeaten streak under Gerrard after this weekend then there’s not much that will convince the fans against winning the league this season. The real test will come on 2nd September when Gerrard travels to Parkhead to face Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic. However, the Gers will need to take one game at a time until then.
