Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-1 in the round of sixteen of the Scottish league Cup yesterday thanks to a superb treble from Alfredo Morelos, however, there’s one other name that the Gers are hailing after the victory, Wes Foderingham. The 27-year-old shot-stopper played his first game of the season at Rugby Park and he played an absolute blinder.
First 90 mins in 4 months, great to be back out there. Great team performance! Congrats @morelos2106 3 great goals . Thoughts are with murph, those plastic pitches have to go!

Foderingham’s professionalism and class shone through after the game when he took to Twitter to congratulate Morelos on his first Rangers hat-trick and to give his condolences to Jamie Murphy, who was stretchered off with a knee injury. However, after stepping in for 90 minutes for the first time in four months and playing the way that he did is commendable and the supporters have recognised that.
The impressive shot-stopper pulled off a brilliant save from a Kilmarnock free-kick, tipping the ball over the bar, and if you hadn’t known any better you wouldn’t believe that he wasn’t the first choice man between the sticks at Ibrox. With Steven Gerrard’s side into the last eight of the Betfred Cup, it looks like Foderingham will be given another 90 minutes very soon at home to Ayr United as the club has an excellent chance to make the semi-finals of the competition.
You can read the Gers’ responses to Foderingham’s tweet here:
Great to see you back in the team mate. Flawless today which says a lot about your attitude.

The fans are all loving Foderingham after yesterday and will be desperate to see more of the 27-year-old shot-stopper.
