Rangers are at risk of losing one of their starting defenders this January, with left-back Borna Barisic a target for Serie A side Roma, according to the Sunday Post. Despite the Scottish giants reportedly opening contract talks with the player, those in the Italian capital are believed to have a strong interest in him.
Indeed, the 27-year-old has made as many appearances for the club so far this season, scoring twice and contributing an impressive 13 assists from full-back. Overall, he’s been an instrumental part of a side that are just two points off the pace in the Scottish Premiership, and into the knockout stages of the Europa League.
As a result, Roma are reportedly looking to secure a place in the top four in Italy, and return to the Champions League, and are thought to believe that bringing in Barisic could be a huge boost to their hopes. Given their status as one of the biggest clubs in Italy and one who are often involved in Europe’s elite competition, there’s surely a risk that a move to Rome may prove appealing were an offer to arrive.
