Rangers: Fans react to Jermain Defoe’s goal against Aberdeen

Some Rangers fans on Twitter have been reacting to Jermain Defoe’s goal from the 5-0 thrashing of Aberdeen at the weekend.

Will Rangers win the league?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Defoe lives and breathes goals. It feels like whenever he is on the pitch, no matter whether it’s from the start in Steven Gerrard’s line-up or off the bench, he will score.

That has certainly been the case in his last few games for the Gers. Against St. Johnstone, the weekend before last, Defoe made an 11-minute cameo off the bench and managed to net twice in the closing moments of the game.

Last weekend, Defoe once again came off the bench for Alfredo Morelos and got another goal to back up his goalscoring pedigree as he notched his ninth goal in 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

After Scott Arfield attempted to control the ball on the edge of the Dons’ area, Ryan Hedges seemingly attempted to clear it but the ball found its way in behind Aberdeen’s defence. Defoe reacted the sharpest and with Joe Lewis off his line, the veteran forward caressed a lovely dink over the goalkeeper to make it 5-0 to the Gers.

Some Rangers fans aired their thoughts on the goal on Twitter. Here are some of the responses under Rangers’ post praising Defoe’s intuition…

That's a lovely lovely goal.

Great fore sight and brilliant tip over goal from Defoe. He still has the magic. Why do we get the good ones when they are in the twilight of their careers???? Weldone Jermain
