Rangers: Plenty of fans slam Chris Sutton after verdict on Morelos’ Old Firm gesture

Despite Rangers sealing a 2-1 victory in the Old Firm derby at the weekend, Alfredo Morelos still managed to grab some unwanted attention by getting sent off with seconds to play and then making a gesture which has caused some controversy.

The Colombian has seen red twice so far this season but has been in inspired form, netting 12 goals in 18 appearances for the Gers in the Premiership. On Twitter ex-Celtic player Chris Sutton was quick to condemn the gesture from the 23-year-old, labelling it “violent” and “embarrassing” while calling for the striker to be banned.

Ex-Ger Alex Rae then weighed in on the debate calling Sutton’s argument “embarrassing” and claimed he thought the gesture was to mean that the time in the game was up. Rangers fans saw the interaction between the two and joined in in the replies. Lots of Gers fans backed Rae and claimed Sutton was biased towards Celtic and bitter about the result.
