Rangers fans slate Alan Stubbs after latest quotes on 2016 cup final

When it comes to Alan Stubbs, a lot of Rangers fans don’t have a very positive view of the 47-year-old. The former Hibs manager was responsible for the Easter Road side’s first Scottish Cup win for 114 years, beating Rangers in the 2016 final, and whilst talking about how he won that game he’s come under fire from plenty of Rangers fans.

Whilst talking to The Daily Record, Alan Stubbs has claimed that his side knew that Mark Warburton’s Rangers had a shaky defence and that his game plan was to exploit that, with James Tavernier being the main man who he wanted to get at during the clash. We all know how the game went, with Hibernian’s coming from 2-1 behind to beat the Gers 3-2 with two late goals at Hampden Park.

Stubbs is never going to be a fan favourite at Ibrox, in his playing days he turned out at Parkhead for five years between 1996 and 2001 and then when hanging up his boots he took charge of 100 games for Hibs. The Gers will always have his card marked as one that they don’t like and now with his comments about he planned to exploit the now Rangers captain Tavernier, they’ve been firing back at the ex-Hibs gaffer, especially seeing as he only lasted nine games as the St Mirren boss this season before being sacked back in early September.
