Loads of Rangers fans have been left divided by Steven Gerrard after the manager’s rather startling comments following the 1-0 defeat to Hearts, in which he lambasted the display and said he ‘didn’t recognise anything’ for 90 minutes.
The Gers crashed out of the cup on Saturday and their hopes of a domestic trophy this season are now dangling by the thinnest of threads. Gerrard has irked fans in recent times by constantly shifting blame onto his players after poor performances, but his reaction to Saturday’s loss might be his harshest words yet.
“Today for 90 minutes I didn’t recognise anything so I’m feeling really, really low and disappointed,” he said, via Sky Sports. “I need to do some real serious thinking over the next 24 and 48 hours.”
Discounting the Europa League triumph over Braga, the Gers have now won just four of their last nine matches, which has of course left them 12 points off the pace in the Premiership and now without the chance of a domestic cup to fight for. Fans seem split over the gaffer’s future after his post-game revelation, with one supporter simply saying ‘get him out’ while others insisted it is indeed the players who are to blame…
Get him out

It’s his players that are underperforming

Our top goalscorer missed his flight and failed to report for training, our captain has been underperforming for best part of a season, Davis and Jack have been hopeless for 2 months. Gerrard takes part of the blame. His players just as culpable

Any other manager would have been sacked

Sack Gerrard we’re only gonna go even further back. Be careful what you wish for

This is the turning point. This can’t be defended. Europe can’t mask this.

Think he deserves one more season personally. A lot of people will be reactionary and want him removed tonight, but you can’t ignore his European record and what that brings to the club financially

simply has to resign. not good enough and Tav is simply not a captain

Took Klopp 2 seasons to get it right at Liverpool, took Alex Ferguson 5 seasons to get it right at Man Utd. The improvement is massive under Gerrard. Still got more to go though
