Glasgow Rangers target Oli McBurnie has expressed his delight as the Gers confirmed the signing of John Lundstram on Monday.

The Lowdown: Gers unveil Lundstram

On Monday, the 55-time Scottish champions confirmed the signing of Lundstram (rangers.co.uk), who recently left Sheffield United after the end of his contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Ibrox.

The Latest: McBurnie delighted

£9m-valued McBurnie (Transfermarkt), who is a Rangers fan (Open Goal) and has also been linked with a move to the Glasgow outfit (The Daily Mail), is clearly delighted with the announcement.

Taking to Twitter, he said:

"Things you love to see! what a man, what a player and what a signing!!"

The pair have of course been playing together at Bramall Lane for the last few years - could we see another reunion in the future?

The Verdict: Exciting for Rangers

Lundstram joins Fashion Sakala as the Gers' second summer signing, and Steven Gerrard and co will be delighted they have convinced the former Everton midfielder to join them.

He has made 62 Premier League appearances across the last two years, and impressed in particular during the 2019/20 campaign when he netted five goals as well in the league (Transfermarkt).

He will likely prove to be a valuable addition to the middle of the park with his energy and versatility.

McBurnie joining them now seems highly unlikely - the arrival of Sakala means Rangers have five centre-forwards to choose from. Still, the Scotland international will be eagerly awaiting how Lundstram performs as a fan.
