Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed that Kemar Roofe was taken off at half-time in the Old Firm after picking up a quad injury.

The Gers picked up all three points against their fierce city rivals Celtic thanks to a 1-0 victory at Ibrox. It was far from a stellar performance, but the win now takes them 19 points clear at the top of the table.

However, Roofe came off after the first 45 minutes, and Gerrard confirmed after the match that the former Leeds United man picked up a problem. He said:
“Kemar has a niggle in his quad which we will have to assess and hope he is back fit.”
Worrying
This is no doubt a blow to Gerrard and his team. The 27-year-old was not at his best at Ibrox on Saturday and failed to get on the scoresheet, but he has been a revelation since making the move to Scotland. In his first 21 games for the club, he has scored 12 goals, and according to Gerrard he has been “setting the example” in terms of his work-rate.

Alfredo Morelos, who has scored eight times in 26 games, is not enjoying his best campaign, while Cedric Itten is yet to really get going since his own summer transfer. Losing Roofe up top would weaken the Gers, of that there is no doubt. Hopefully, he is back and firing as soon as possible.
