Rangers: Joe Aribo wants more goals and assists

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has admitted that he must contribute more in terms of goals and assists to the Ibrox outfit, speaking before his stunning display on Saturday.

Aribo wants to do more

So far this campaign, Aribo has scored five goals and provided two assists for the Gers in all competitions (Transfermarkt) – far from awful numbers, but something he can definitely improve upon.

Prior to the clash against Ross County, the Nigeria international revealed that he wants to improve on those numbers. He said (via Goal.com):

“Obviously when you play you want to get goals and assists and I feel I need to improve that side of my game so I look at how to improve my game every day.”

Can get better

As previously mentioned, Aribo has not totally disappointed this campaign, and his low numbers may be in part down to the ankle injury he suffered towards the start of the campaign that kept him out for a number of weeks. Gers icon Brian Laudrup is a big fan of his, even claiming the club need another player just like Aribo, via The Daily Mail.

However, six of his teammates have scored more than him, while six have also provided more assists.

Aribo should perhaps take inspiration from Scott Arfield. The Canada international, despite only starting 20 games (two more than Aribo), has scored seven times and created a further five. Those are the kind of numbers the £3.15m-valued former Charlton man (Transfermarkt) should be looking to hit, and he has an experienced figure in front of him to learn from.
