The Spanish hacks in the Transfer Tavern are convinced Liverpool full-back Alvaro Arbeloa will officially become a Real Madrid player today.
The AS newspaper says “Real Madrid have paid €4 million and the defender will sign for four years with the option of an extra year.”
The report says Reds defender Arbeloa will be the seventh player to join the new Florentino Perez project. There are now 30 players in the Los Blancos squad at the Bernabeu.
Arbeloa told AS: “Until I actually signed I couldn’t believe it! I’m living a dream. I left Madrid thinking one day I would return to succeed. This dream is now reality and I have a new opportunity.”
The deal was completed at 7.30pm last night, adds the report.
The defender also cast doubt over Spanish International Xabi Alonso’s Liverpool future, adding: “I know very few players who’d be capable to say no to Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso is right to say that the Florentino project is impressive.”
