Harry Redknapp has raided his facebook friends list yet again in his search to bolster Spurs’ squad for the run in. The Tottenham manager is ready to add Younes Kaboul to the list of players he’s brought back to White Heart Lane, which already include Jermaine Defoe, Robbie Keane and Pascal Chimbonda. Kaboul will also be the latest recruit (or re-recuit) ‘Arry has signed from his former club Portsmouth along with Defoe and Peter Crouch.
According to reports Spurs are already at an advanced stage in negotiations to sign the 24 year old for an as yet undisclosed fee, but it’s believed that Pompey still owe Tottenham in the region of £2m from the deal that took the Frenchman from the Lane in the first place. Good news for ‘Arry, who, as Portsmouth manager at the time, did the deal in the first place.
Sunderland and Villa are also in the hunt for the former France U-21 Captain, who’s been in great form for the beleaguered south coast club this season. Loosing Kaboul is a massive blow to Pompey, but in their current financial situation they can’t afford to keep such a profitable asset as the club prepare to announce the non payment of wages yet again tomorrow for the fourth time in five months..
However the sale has angered boss Avram Grant and Chief Exec Peter Storrie, who weren’t aware the deal was being done.
“If there is a need to sell a player and get a fee then I feel I am the best person for the situation.” Said Storrie.
“But I knew nothing about it until this morning. I took a call from Avram and was told there were meetings going on at Spurs.
‘I’m not knocking it or saying it’s right one way or another but surely get the experts in. If someone has to go then let’s get the right price.”
