The Guardian has Chelsea fans looking up with some interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that Andre Schurrle wishes the club well but certainly does not harbour any regrets over his move back to Germany.

After promising so much in his first season with the Blues, not to mention becoming a key part of the World Cup winning Germany side in Brazil last summer, Schurrle failed to impress Mourinho and thus found himself shipped back off to Germany for a handsome fee when Wolfsburg came calling.

The former Bayer Leverkusen made it clear he had no hard feelings towards the club but added: “I wanted to stay, but I also wanted to play football.”

As our landlord notes over by the bar, we can fully understand that and given Jose Mourinho had clearly decided that he wanted to use other options up top, not to mention enter the winter transfer window, we think that Schurrle had no choice over the matter.
