Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are amused by comments revealed in the London Evening Standard after David Luiz confessed the obvious by saying Chelsea are better off without him.
Luiz’s legacy in England was tarnished to say the least as despite being recognised as a strong defender, a few dodgy moments, not to mention rash decisions proved his undoing.
But everyone inevitably questioned his huge £50 million move to Paris Saint-Germain and then as soon as endured his horror show at the World Cup, he is now considered as a massive waste of money.
His recent comments were made in the build up to Chelsea’s Champions League tie away at the Parc Des Princes next Tuesday.
The Brazilian defender is set to go up against his former side for the first time but PSG will be more than aware of the Blues strengths after they narrowly lost to them at the quarter final stage last year.
Luiz said: “Yes, Chelsea are better this season. Above all, they are better balanced following the arrival of Fabregas.
“He’s perhaps the player they were missing: he balances the midfield, makes the team play well and knows how to hold on to the ball from time-to-time.
“With the arrival of Costa – a warrior forward who always wants to score and challenge defenders – and the continuity provided by manager Jose Mourinho in the dugout, it’s logical Chelsea are stronger this season.”
