Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the summer months in order to see the new look Gunners, as life after Arsene Wenger finally starts after 22 years at the club.

Luis Enrique has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but it seems that Arsenal are now the front-runners for the former Barcelona man’s signature.

With a strong connection to Barcelona and being seemingly the more attractive option for Enrique, it could very well be that he could be the next man in charge at the Emirates. With a new man in charge, there is the potential of new signings, and our regulars will be hoping that Enrique will tap into his vast knowledge of the Spanish league to start the revamp at the Emirates Stadium

Luis Enrique had a fabulous three years at Barcelona, winning a double and a treble in the process, so it’s obvious to see why the regulars in the bar are getting a little excited over the recent links.

So, our landlord has done his usual scouting and come up with TWO players that could potentially move with Enrique to Arsenal in the summer…

Lucas Hernandez

The Atletico Madrid defender is one of the best performers in the La Liga this season so far and has played a huge part in Simeone’s team, and he is still only 22. The Frenchman can play in the centre of the defence or on the left and is very comfortable in both areas, which can be a huge bonus for Arsenal with defensive reinforcements a must to move forward.

Arsenal need to build from the back, and in Hernandez, they have a young and talented defender that they could rely on for many years to come under the Spaniard’s reign.

Jan Oblak

Another Atletico Madrid player, Jan Oblak is rated as one of the best in La Liga, if not Europe. With the ageing Petr Cech and the not up to standard David Ospina Arsenal are in desperate need of a goalkeeper that can win them points at the back.

Getting two players from the same team would be a big ask, however, after the two-legged affair with Atletico in the Europa League semi-final, the Gunners will be able to see up-close if they are worth pursuing in the summer.
