Rodgers simply must axe these 2 Celtic stars for the Scottish Premiership run-in

Celtic’s title charge was temporarily put on hold this weekend after Rangers battled back to take a 1-1 draw in the Old Firm Derby and their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern weren’t best pleased!

It was a gutsy performance by the Gers, who will be beginning life under Pedro Caixinha this week, but for the Bhoys, it was two points dropped against their most bitter of rivals.

The Tavern was absolutely bouncing when Stuart Armstrong fired his side into the lead but a last-gasp equaliser from veteran Clint Hill ensured Rangers got a share of the spoils in what was probably a deserved draw on the day.

But following the game, it seems that a couple of the Celtic players weren’t really up to speed for one of the biggest matches of the season and some of their supporters here in the pub were disappointed with a couple of underwhelming showings.

So with that in mind, here are TWO players Rodgers must axe for the Scottish Premiership league run-in…

Dedryck Boyata

Dedryck Boyata is back in the Celtic first-team after some time away and whilst his performances have definitely picked up over the past couple of weeks, he was one who had a shaky game against Rangers.

There’s a belief here in the Tavern that there are definitely stronger options in the squad than the Belgian and if Celtic are going to really assert their dominance in the title run-in, Rodgers must bring someone else in at the back.

He has plenty of options in his squad and, at times, Boyata really doesn’t inspire confidence.

Kieran Tierney

There’s no doubting that young full-back Kieran Tierney is one of the most talented youngsters we’ve seen at Parkhead for a long while.

Supporters here in the Tavern can’t get enough of the starlet but against Rangers, he looked jaded and shy of confidence.

With the likes of Cristian Gamboa waiting in the wings, it might be best to give the young talent a bit of a breather in the coming weeks.
