Tottenham Hotspur: Ajax in the hunt to sign Spurs star Ryan Sessegnon on loan amid interest from Fulham

Ajax have entered the hunt to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Tottenham Hotspur on loan this summer, reports say.

The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath revealed the defending Dutch champions have enquired about Sessegnon’s availability next season.

Fulham, who are now managed by former White Hart Lane number one Scott Parker, are reportedly leading the race to re-sign the 20-year-old a year after he left Craven Cottage for the Lilywhites.

The England U21 international has attracted attention from a number of potential suitors but Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has still not decided if he will play a part in the 2020/21 Premier League season or leave north London on loan.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag wants to strengthen his squad after Hakim Ziyech left the Johan Cruyff Arena for Chelsea and he has identified Sessegnon at the top of his wishlist. The versatile youngster is an attacking threat who can also play at left-back.

Much has been made of his lack of playing time, having started only four games in the top flight last term, and it is understood that he wants to be playing regularly.

Mourinho believes the former Fulham man is merely a work in progress, as he feels he simply needs time to adapt to life in the Premier League.

While his chances have been limited so far, the Portuguese insists the Spurs starlet has a “bright future” after he scored his first goal for the club against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, becoming the youngest Spurs player to score in the Champions League in the process.

Who did Jol replace as Spurs manager in 2004?

The Lilywhites famously came back from behind to beat Ajax on away goals and set up an all-English Champions League final against Liverpool last year.

A move abroad has worked wonders for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and a loan spell could be exactly what Sessegnon needs to take the next step in his career. Ajax have been described as the world’s greatest talent factory and he needs to be guaranteed game time to test himself on a regular basis, which would enable him to work out his best position and provide him with the experience he needs to challenge for a place in the starting lineup.

Added to that, they will also play in the Champions League next season whilst Spurs will not, so it will give the youngster move experience on the biggest stage.

Tottenham fans, do you think Daniel Levy should send Sessegnon out on loan? Let us know your views in the comments below!
