Despite winning the FA Cup and Champions League Chelsea’s poor domestic form coupled with Roman Abramovich’s vision for the clubs future will lead to a revamp at Chelsea this summer.
The club are aiming to bring in some younger players with most being Europe’s hot prospects such as Eden Hazard and now according to reports Sao Paulo’s Lucas Moura.
The 19-year-old Brazilian winger is rated as one of the hottest prospects in world football and is currently very highly rated by his club as he has a £64m release clause in his contract.
Chelsea are ready to test Sao Paulo’s resolve by bidding half of his release clause with an initial £32m.
Reports suggest Chelsea have stolen a march on the other interested parties by making this bid already as the new season preperations have begun early at the Bridge.
Moura is also admired by Inter Milan and Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid but Chelsea have gone in early in a bid to ward off other interest.
Sao Paulo rejected the Chelsea offer but president Juvenal Juvencio admits they are close to winning the race for Moura.
He was quoted as saying:
“Inter have presented an offer but that was not considered satisfactory to us. Real Madrid are another one of the teams and there have been contacts with [president] Florentino Perez who admires the player very much.
