Life at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri already looks a lot happier for most of their players. Indeed, with Antonio Conte’s tenure turning sour toward the end, the former Napoli coach looks to have brought a new atmosphere with him, even in these early stages of the new era.
Exiled under Conte, David Luiz has recently revealed he’s keen to stay at Stamford Bridge, just months after his second stint in west London looked all but done. The Brazilian might have his flaws, though is a popular figure amongst the support and can certainly be used to great effect if played in the right system.
In fact, he might not be the only one to find a new lease of life under Sarri. Though last season ended with an FA Cup win, Chelsea didn’t look like a particularly happy club and a new manager could settle the storm behind the scenes, as it has done with Luiz.
With that in mind, here’s a look at two other players who might feel the same.
Willian has been linked with a move away from the Bridge for a while now and, after his social media jibe at Conte, it seemed like his time was up.
However, the Brazilian looks to be a natural fit under Sarri. During his time with Napoli, the Italian coach utilised wide forwards to great effect, converting Dries Mertens into a central striker, flanked by the thrillingly incisive Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon.
If he can make Willian feel happy again, we could see Willian back to his best.
Alvaro Morata had a strange season during his maiden year in the Premier League.
The Spaniard looked good in flashes, though looked ‘too nice’ to a lot of people, especially considering he replaced Diego Costa in the central striking role in SW6. Yes, he may be frustrating, but the former Real Madrid man clearly boasts a level of class not all too many strikers have.
Sarri turned Gonzalo Higuain into one of the world’s most feared strikers and, if he manages Morata correctly, he could do the same.
