Scarily good: The potential starting Chelsea XI to face Burnley on the opening day of the season

Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to this season with an effervescent sense of positivity, as Conte looks to begin the quest for European domination.

None of our resident Chelsea fans expected Conte to orchestrate such a dramatic revival in his first season in charge, yet that is exactly what the Italian achieved.

The Blues’ supporters are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new season and wondering how many new faces will arrive at Stamford Bridge this Summer.

The need for squad depth is unquestionable given Chelsea’s participation in the Champions League. Conte was able to operate with a relatively small squad last season; now he must concentrate his focus on ensuring that the Blues have sufficient numbers to compete this season.

The Blues will be vying for success in all four competitions next season.

Our landlord has opted to look at how Chelsea could operate against Burnley on the opening day of the new season.

Thibaut Courtois

Having dismantled club icon Petr Cech in the Summer of 2014 Chelsea haven’t looked back. The Belgian is unquestionably one of the greatest goalies in the Premier League and his indelible save in the last minute against Sunderland last season, displays how decisive his involvement can prove to be.

Alex Sandro

The Brazilian is expected to complete a £60M move to South West London, and the 26-year-old is highly regarded as one of the best wing-backs in the World. His defensive and attacking contribution is brilliant in equal measure, and his addition would seriously strengthen the Champions’ defence.

Andreas Christensen

Chelsea’s Danish starlet is expected to return to the Blues this Summer following a fruitful loan spell with Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 21-year-old was voted the club’s player of the year in 2015-16 and has produced several excellent performances for the German team.

David Luiz

The Brazilian’s return to Chelsea caught the eye of many, yet he has returned as the complete defender. His discipline has markedly improved, and his passing range is utterly astonishing.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea’s most underrated player, ‘Dave’ has been consistently excellent since joining the club from Marseille in the Summer of 2012. He can play anywhere along the backline, and he is one of the club’s most prized assets.

Victor Moses

Without question, the Nigerian was the unexpected hero of last campaign. Having been discarded on loan to Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham, the Nigerian’s transition to right wing-back was stunning and shocking in equal proportion. His decision making must improve.

N’Golo Kante

The Frenchman is unquestionably one of the best midfielders in World Football, his ability to retrieve possession is unprecedented, and his passing has improved under Conte’s cultivated guidance.

Tiemoué Bakayoko

Monaco’s destructive midfielder is expected to join the Blues in the coming weeks, as both clubs argue over a fee. The 22-year-old was an instrumental figure in Monaco’s title success and is renowned for his tackling and dribbling ability.

Eden Hazard

Chelsea’s very own superstar. The Belgian was instrumental in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign – just as he was in 2014/15 – scoring 16 league goals and registering five assists.

Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang

ST: Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang – The 28-year-old is a proficient finisher, having scored 120 goals in 186 games for Borussia Dortmund, 31 of which were scored last season as he finished the campaign as Bundesliga’s top scorer.

Pedro

The Spaniard is a scorer of important goals. Having struggled to familiarise himself with the physicality of Premier League life, Pedro had an indelible season scoring 13 and assisting nine in all competitions – that included crucial goals such as his strike against Spurs and Everton.
