Adrien Trebel was another player Celtic missed out on

Celtic were thought to have been interested in adding a midfielder to their ranks this summer, however, a move never materialised.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht’s Adrien Trebel was on Brendan Rodgers’ radar during the transfer window.

It has been claimed that a number of clubs were interested in the 27-year-old, including the likes of Porto and Hertha Berlin and a number of bids worth around €8million were rejected by the Belgians.

However, it fails to state whether an offer was made by the Hoops for the midfielder.

Celtic had a difficult summer this year in trying to bring players to Celtic Park as they looked to strengthen their side, with the likes of John McGinn and Scott McKenna not being able to make the move to the Glasgow outfit.

And, it appears that Trebel was another who did not get a summer move to Paradise.

The Verdict:

Celtic have had a tough summer transfer window this season as it appears that they have missed out on another name to add to their side.

Trebel would have been a great signing for the Bhoys if they had managed to acquire him, as he would have been able to add tenacity to the midfield area.

However, with €8m bids having been rejected, it appears Celtic may have always struggled to bring the £7.2m-rated man, as per Transfermarkt, to Scotland this summer.
