On Saturday, Steven Gerrard opted to leave Alfredo Morelos on the bench as Livingston came to Ibrox. The Colombian striker was sidelined in favour of Kyle Lafferty, however, when Stevie G introduced him for the final half an hour the game exploded into life, as El Buffalo grabbed a goal and an assist to down Livingston 3-0 in Glasgow.

At the moment it seems like everything Morelos touches turns to goals. The 22-year-old managed 18 goals in his debut season last year under both Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty, however, we haven’t even hit December yet this season and under Gerrard’s management the Colombian has already bagged 16 times, including scoring goals in six consecutive games in the Scottish Premier League and you can bet he isn’t done yet.
Rangers are now in prime position to try and mount a title chase and usurp Celtic as Scottish champions and they sit just two points behind The Hoops, with their next Old Firm coming up in just over a month’s time on December 29th. If Gerrard can keep Morelos scoring freely up until then he not only could he be set to double his tally from last season, but he could be the man to smash Celtic’s efforts at winning ten Scottish Premier League titles in a row.

Morelos is a man on form at the moment, and as the goals keep coming, the fans will just hope they can keep pace with their Glasgow rivals.
