Celtic will be preparing for their Europa League clash with Red Bull Leipzig in Germany on Thursday night.
Brendan Rodgers’ side will be looking to pick up the three points to put them in good standing in trying to reach the next stage of the competition.
His team have travelled to Germany with a number of players unavailable and doubtful for the game and it appears one man will not get the chance to show what he can offer to the Bhoys.
Marvin Compper has had a nightmare time at Celtic Park since arriving last season from their Europa League opponents and is yet to make an appearance for Rodgers.
“When Marvin came to the club last year we wanted to use his experience. He was injured in that first six months.
“I made it clear to him in the summer there were players who came in during that six months and they had jumped ahead of him.
“It was made clear to him if he wanted to play regularly in the last few years of his career then he’d have to move.
“He decided he wanted to stay and you have to respect his decision.
“But there are players who have jumped ahead of him in the queue and it’s clear his game time is going to be limited.”
As mentioned, Compper has had a nightmare time in Scotland since joining the Scottish Premiership champions and things do not look as though they will improve for him.
It could be seen as admirable that he decided to remain at Celtic Park and try and fight for a place in the team, however, Rodgers’ admission really does appear to put the writing on the wall for him.
Should the 33-year-old want to make a return to regular first-team action, he should look to get a move in January and put his torrid time at Parkhead behind him.
