Jeremie Frimpong was given the chance to make a stand-out impression on Celtic fans in the Scottish League Cup on Wednesday. Indeed, the 18-year-old right-back not only ensured the Hoops kept a clean sheet but provided plenty of support for the forwards who finished Partick Thistle off 5-0.
Teammate Jonny Hayes even talked up the youngster when speaking to Celtic TV (via the Scottish Sun) after the game: ‘”Since he came in, the first day and first five minutes of his session we’ve been talking about him.’
Olivier Ntcham might have found the net twice but it was Frimpong who started his career at Celtic Park by winning the club’s Man of the Match Award. Obviously, he took the chance to move away from Manchester City on a four-year deal earlier this month, and he was rewarded with his first senior start by Neil Lennon.
After the game, his manager described him as a ‘crowd pleaser’ and that sentiment rang true on Twitter too, with these fans heaping praise on the youngster when the award was announced.

He had a brilliant debut, he is fast down the wing, couple of great turns as well.
