Celtic fans will be strutting into work today with a swagger about them after yesterday’s massive win. The third Old Firm of the season kicked off at Parkhead yesterday and whilst the home side were given a real scare by the ten men of Rangers, Neil Lennon’s side ultimately got the win, and Kristoffer Ajer was absolutely vital to doing so.
Kristoffer Ajer is 20 years old.

Considering how long Ajer has been in the side for and how well he’s been doing for the Hoops it is so easy to forget just how young the versatile defensive rock is. With the ability to play in a defensive midfield role or as a centre-back the Norwegian is one of the best players in the Scottish Premier League, and on most days he’s criminally underrated, even if the Bhoys are putting that right after yesterday.
It can be easy in football to overlook certain players because they’re not getting on the scoresheet every other week, but the Hoops are giving Ajer all of the credit he deserves yesterday, and a lot of them believe he should have been the nominated man of the match ahead of Odsonne Edouard. If the youngster can make yesterday’s display his benchmark then it will be incredibly hard for Celtic to hold onto him, and that says a lot about how good he’s been.

He was outstanding the day.

He was an absolute stalwart today- I feared coming in that he could be a red card waiting to happen with brother Bobby and Ajer’s penchant for going to ground, but he was an stud. I would actually have him edge Eddie for MOTM

That cruncher on Tavernier at the end summed him up today. 100% committed. Fantastic.

The Hoops were all left in awe of their sublime youngster after the dust had settled on their Old Firm win, and will be sure to cherish the time that Ajer spends at the club before a European gian inevitably comes calling for him.
