Considering that before this week, James Forrest was yet to score an international goal in his first 24 attempts, no one would have expected him to grab five in his last two. That’s exactly what the Bhoys’ #49 did, though, and now they’ll be asking a lot more from the 27-year-old in the future.

That, though, is exactly what the 27-year-old did. Over the weekend he grabbed a double in a 4-0 away win over Albania to set up Alex McLeish’s side for a grandstand finale at Hampden Park where a win would see all of the negative press and fans from their defeat against Isreal last time disappear. They got the result they wanted and again, it was down to Forrest, who grabbed one of the calmest trebles you’ll ever see in a 3-2 win.
Every single one of Forrest’s goals was taken with ice running through the Celtic man’s veins. Calmly passing the ball into the back of the net three times as the Israelian defence crumbled around him. This season is looking like it will be far and away Forrest’s best ever goalscoring season as he’s netted an incredible 14 goals already and we haven’t even hit December, with his highest goalscoring tally prior to this season coming last season when he bagged 17 in all competitions.

Whoever bought this boy the shooting boots he’s been wearing over the past few weeks has made a solid purchase.

The Hoops loved watching Forrest tearing things up on the international stage and they’ll just be hoping he can continue doing it at Parkhead.
