Celtic fans on Twitter loved seeing Nir Bitton return

Celtic fans were absolutely loving life on Saturday evening when their side overcame Airdrieonians 3-0 at Parkhead as they continued their defence of the Scottish Cup. It was a great win for the Hoops, and it was made even better as Nir Bitton made his long-awaited return from injury off the bench.

The Israeli midfielder has had a torrid time at Parkhead over the course of this season. Injuries have prevented him from making any kind of appearance up until Saturday, and even then he only managed eight minutes from the bench. However, if he can stay fit and build on that then the 27-year-old could find himself playing a much bigger role in the squad in the coming months.

Undoubtedly, Bitton’s return will be overshadowed by Scott Sinclair’s brace and the debut goal that Timothy Weah scored when he came off the bench in the second-half. However, having the big midfielder enforcer back in the fold will be crucial to the club’s success this season, and with his versatility to slot in and out of defence and a deep midfield role, Brendan Rodgers will love having him back.

The Bhoys will have loved Bitton’s return and will now be hoping the midfielder can build on his Scottish Cup cameo.
