Celtic are thought to be using the January transfer window as a means to bring additional firepower to Celtic Park.
Brendan Rodgers currently has just Odsonne Edouard as his most senior options currently, with Leigh Griffiths taking time away from the game to deal with personal issues.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo has been strongly linked with a move to Paradise recently, however, it appears the Bhoys have been dealt a transfer blow for the striker.
The Hoops are thought to have had a bid in the region of £1.8million turned down, however, the Slovakia outfit’s sporting director, Jan Van Daele, appears to have left the door open on a possible move.
“We confirm we have received a bid from Celtic but refused the bid as it did not match our expectations,” he told Sky Sports.
“We are in direct contact with Celtic club officials and we are open to negotiate with Celtic”.
Bayo has been in great form for Dunajska Streda this season, having fired 18 goals in 23 appearances for the Slovakians this season.
Although Celtic may have been handed an initial transfer blow in their pursuit for him, the sporting director does leave the possibility of a deal happening wide open.
With the winter break now in session, the Parkhead outfit have plenty of time to try and get a move completed before they return to action.
