Celtic are on the verge of sealing their eighth Scottish Premiership in a row after their victory against Kilmarnock on Saturday.
It would not be surprising to see many celebrating their success already, as it would take something truly special for them not to be crowned champions, however, there might be one man that will not be taking part in the celebrations, or at least may not feel like doing so.
What’s the News?
Football Insider have claimed Celtic have told Cristian Gamboa that he will need to find a new club in the summer.
The Costa Rica international has not played for the club since mid-December and will not be offered a new contract to extend his stay.
It is hardly a surprise to hear that Gamboa will be told to pack his bags and leave Celtic this summer.
The Costa Rica international has been nothing more than a fringe man during his time with the Scottish Premiership outfit, having made just a handful of appearances since joining them from West Bromwich Albion when Brendan Rodgers was in charge.
The right-back was additionally signed to provide Mikael Lustig with competition, however, he saw his place in the pecking order fall further when the Hoops signed Jeremy Toljan on loan from Borussia Dortmund.
The Scottish Sun claimed earlier in the week that he was offered a chance to return to his homeland with Deportiva Alajuelense handing him a pre-contract, but it remains to be seen if Gamboa decides that is the best move for him or could look at other possible options.
What is clear though, is that he will not be at Celtic beyond the summer.
Celtic fans, what have you made of Gamboa’s time at the club? Has he ever really made an impression? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
