Celtic held talks about sale of Moussa Dembele

Celtic could be about to lose one of their best players this summer, despite wanting to keep hold of him.

According to a report by L’Equipe, the Bhoys are thought to have held talks with Olympique Lyonnais about a possible transfer for Moussa Dembele.

The Ligue One outfit are thought to be interested in the 22-year-old ace as they prepare to find a replacement for Mariano Diaz.

It is understood that Brendan Rodgers side are keen on keeping their talented forward at Celtic Park this summer, especially given that the transfer window slams shut in a couple of days.

Interestingly, the report suggests that Celtic would have been open to letting their £6.3million-rated striker, as per Transfermarkt, depart a couple of weeks ago for a fee believed to be in the region of €15m and €20m.

However, with the window closing on Friday, it now appears that the Hoops have no intention of letting him leave and will do their best to keep him in Scotland.

The Verdict:

It would be a huge blow to Celtic if they did see Dembele leave the club just as the transfer window slams shut.

The striker has been a key player for the Bhoys since he arrived from Fulham in the summer of 2016.

Celtic have plenty of firepower available, with the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths, however, they will need to keep the 22-year-old ace if they are to compete for the Scottish Premiership title once again.
