Celtic are thought to be closing in on another deal this January as the transfer window heads into the final week.
Brendan Rodgers has already added to his attacking ranks this month, however, it appears he could be about to add defensive reinforcements to his squad imminently.
According to The Daily Record’s live transfer blog (Thursday 24 January 2019, 11:02 am), Andrew Gutman is expected to be named a Celtic player in the very near future.
The Scottish Premiership champions appear to have won the race for the player, with MLS outfit Chicago Fire believed to have made him an offer to join them as well.
The 22-year-old is thought to have watched the club in action on Wednesday night when they beat St. Mirren 4-0 at Parkhead.
He is now expected to be paraded by Celtic once they confirm his arrival.
Celtic have been busy this winter and Gutman is the latest January addition for Rodgers and his side.
The 22-year-old is expected to have a bright future as a professional footballer after winning a number of awards back in his college days in America.
Celtic could still look to make a couple of additions in the final week of the window as there will be areas of the squad they will feel needs strengthening further as they compete with Rangers – and Kilmarnock – for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
