Celtic want Robert Gumny

Brendan Rodgers is thought to be on the lookout to bring a new right-back to Celtic this January.

The Bhoys currently have Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Anthony Ralston as his options, however, there are question marks over their futures.

The experienced Sweden international’s contract is up in the summer and is yet to be offered a new deal as doubts have risen over his recent performances.

Ralston was recently injured, whilst Gamboa has not made a real impression since being a Celtic player.

And, according to a report in Poland, it appears Rodgers has identified a player he would like to bring to Parkhead.

Gazeta Wyborcza are claiming Lech Poznan’s Robert Gumny is now on the Scottish Premiership champion’s radar and the club are ‘willing to pay’ around €5million to land him.

The 20-year-old, who can also play on the left-hand side of the defence, has impressed for the Polish outfit this season and they are keen to keep him this month – despite being close to leaving the club for Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.

The Verdict:

Celtic’s need for a right-back will have only been further highlighted recently with Ralston’s injury and Lustig’s inconsistency.

And, Gumny could be an excellent addition for The Bhoys to make this January, provided Lech Poznan allow him to leave.

With Celtic prepared to spend around 5m on him, it could be an interesting few days for the Glaswegian outfit.
