Celtic: Fans defend Patryk Klimala amid some criticism on his first start for the club - Celtic

A number of Celtic fans on social media have sprung to the defence of Patryk Klimala amid some criticism of his performance on his first start for the club on Sunday.

The Polish striker, who had previously made three substitute appearances for the Hoops after signing for the club last month, was named in Neil Lennon’s starting XI for the Scottish Cup tie at Clyde. Unfortunately, he passed up a good chance to score his first goal for the club in the 37th minute when he was played through on goal by James Forrest and tried to chip onrushing goalkeeper David Mitchell, only for the Clyde stopper to get a glove to the ball and divert it away from danger. He also thwarted Klimala with a second-half effort on Sunday afternoon. [via Daily Mail]

The Celtic forward’s display was criticised by some reporters afterwards. Nathan Dunn of Read Celtic wrote that he “didn’t show his worth after missing two decent opportunities”, while Sourav Mahanty of thecelticbhoys.com felt that he blew his chance when named in the starting XI and feels that “it will be quite some time before he gets another start”.

However, these Hoops fans on Twitter were sticking up for Klimala, who is still in the infancy of his Parkhead career, and believe that he will come good:
