Celtic finally look back to their best after destroying Hearts 5-0 at Celtic Park on the weekend.
For the second time in a week, Celtic got the better of the league leaders and cut the gap to just one point in the Scottish Premiership. Record signing Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring before Filip Benkovic headed home. Edouard completed his brace not long after with goals from James Forrest and Ryan Christie completing the rout.
Momentum is clearly in Brendan Rodgers’ side favour as look to regain their position at the top of the table. The victory marks their fifth in succession, but fans will be hoping for improved performance in Europe. Celtic face a crucial game against RB Leipzig in the Europa League – a must win if Rodgers wants to progress to the knockout stages.
As well as fixture preparation, Rodgers should also be searching for potential January transfer targets. One man who could be on his shortlist is Everton sensation – Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old broke into the Everton first-team during Sam Allardyce’s reign as manager. However, the youngster has been restricted to substitute appearances under Marco Silva mostly, still managing to score two Premier League goals this season. If Everton sign a new forward in January, Calvert-Lewin would be wise to seek a loan move, and Celtic could be the perfect home.
Calvert-Lewin is a traditional target man, strong in the air and great at holding up play. The England U21 international has all the attributes to be a success in the SPFL and could add another dimension to the Celtic forward line. With the Hoops yet to replace Moussa Dembele, a temporary deal for Calvert-Lewin makes perfect sense.
