Celtic have a busy summer ahead of them as they look to bolster their squad in their attempt to win 10 league titles in a row when the next season starts, and it looks like they might have beaten a host of clubs to young full-back Aaron Hickey.
The Hearts left-back has attracted interest from Premier League sides Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea, as well as Leeds United and the Hoops, but according to 90min, the 17-year-old will look to stay in Scotland and sign for the Premiership champions when the transfer window opens.
He looks to be a star in the making as he has already made 30 appearances in all competitions this season, keeping four clean sheets, as per Transfermarkt; 22 of these appearances have come in the SPFL where he has picked up one goal and one assist. He has also received underage caps for Scotland, highlighting that his performances have not got unnoticed.
Would Hickey be a needed signing?
Celtic seem to be signing an ideal player for the future and, with Hearts relegated as it stands, it would be the perfect time to sign the young star as they might be able to get him for a cheaper deal.
They currently have Boli Bolingoli and Greg Taylor occupying the left-back spot, although Neil Lennon has never truly decided which one is his favourite as he has constantly been rotating them this season, so the spot is still up for grabs and Hickey could be the man to claim it. Another good trait of Hickey is that he is versatile and can switch to right-back if needed.
Celtic could have found a real gem if they bring him to Parkhead and this is highlighted by the list of clubs interested in him. They could have two great full-backs for many seasons, with Hickey on one side and Jeremie Frimpong on the other, and they should be prioritising Hickey as one of their more important transfers to finalise this summer.
