Celtic look to have a battle on their hands to try and keep Kristoffer Ajer as a host of European clubs are interested in the defender, according to reports.
It is being reported by 90min, that Premier League side Leicester City, managed by former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, are leading to race to sign the centre-back, but face a lot of competition from Manchester City, Wolves, Everton, as well as AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.
Rodgers brought the Norwegian international, per Transfermarkt, to Scotland back in July 2016 for a fee of around £540,000, so knows him well and clearly holds him in high regard if he wants to be reunited with the player.
Will Ajer stay at Celtic?
It is understandable to see why so many clubs want the 22 year-old, who has already won five domestic cups and three league titles since joining Celtic. He has played 129 times for the Hoops, even managing to pick up five goals and three assists, but what is more impressive is that he has been a part of 70 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt, highlighting how hard he is to get past for opposition attackers.
Clearly he has had a great impact on the Hoops squad, and looking so good at such a young age is only a positive because he still has a lot of growth in him. He looks like he could become one of the best in his position if he keeps on playing at the level he is right now and perhaps beyond.
European giants like PSG being interested highlight the potential he has and the Scottish side should do everything they can do keep him if they want to maintain their dominance in Scotland and become more of a force in Europe.
Celtic fans, if he did leave, would he be replaceable? Comment below!
