Just another standard season really. With the Scottish Premiership all-but wrapped up as well as the Scottish League Cup, Neil Lennon will hope he can deliver yet another treble. Indeed, tomorrow’s game at Hampden is probably the biggest game of the campaign left.
Celtic conducted some incredible business during the January transfer window that left them in good shape to sustain a treble push, which they’re doing currently. While it may have looked as if it’d be a close run race at one point, it couldn’t have been an easier cake-walk.
The feeling is now, though, that Celtic have to work harder over the summer to bring in another level of players, accompanied with a new boss potentially as well.
Should the Hoops achieve exactly that, then the hopes of domestic dominance will continue, as well as a potential revival in Europe.
A player who has experience of playing for a top club already in his short career is Scott McTominay and he is one of many players that should be under consideration by Celtic this summer.
McTominay, (who is valued at £6.3 million on Transfermarkt) was a target for Celtic (who were reported by Sky Sports to be in discussions with United over a loan deal) among other clubs in the January transfer window, although his consequent stay at Man United has seen him rewarded with more game-time.
The 22-year-old is a tidy operator and is good on the ball, two things that would make him a dominating player in the Scottish League. Surely United are going to undergo a major overhaul in the summer and perhaps this would be a good time to capture the towering midfielder.
And although now it may appear harder for Celtic to bring Scott McTominay to Celtic Park, fans have to keep in mind that Man United are set for a big summer clear-out. Yes, he played well against Barcelona, but why not make an ambitious loan swoop?
Celtic do have a number of players that could play in the middle of the park but none are quite the level of Scott McTominay, who would certainly transpire to be a great addition. He’d be a statement signing even on loan.
