Celtic: Fans believe Kris Commons may have been better than Tom Rogic

With a lack of football at the moment, one Celtic fan decided to ask his followers if it was an unreasonable opinion to suggest that Kris Commons was better than Tom Rogic, to which garnered a lot of response in favour of the viewpoint.
Twitter user Bigirishcelt asked whether it was controversial, however it seems many actually agreed with the statement and statistics might help to shed some light on why they shared those thoughts.
During his time at Celtic Park, Commons managed to make himself a huge threat in front of goal for the Bhoys and became a rather lethal finisher in front of goal.
In the 227 matches he played for the Hoops, he managed to finish with 89 goals and 72 assists (TransferMarkt) and guide Celtic to five Scottish Premiership titles. In his first campaign, he made 24 appearances in the Scottish Premiership in 2011/12 and although he only managed one goal himself, he carved open defences with ease as he laid on 12 assists for his team-mates (TransferMarkt).
Looking at Rogic, the 27-year-old has also been rather prolific during his time at Celtic Park, despite having had to miss plenty of action because of injury trouble. According to TransferMarkt’s data, the Australia international has managed to score 38 goals and assist a further 34 in his 189 total outings to date.
However, it seems a number of fans remained firmly in the camp of Commons, with some appearing to suggest the former Scotland international offered them more than their current playmaker does.
Here are just some of their reactions to the opinion posted on Twitter…
Commons scored so many important goals and was a key player for a while.
Rogic has never been fit enough to be a key player.

Actually agree with that. Never really sure about Rogic. Tremendous on his day, but overall he could contribute more.

Definitely better. Commons had far more good days than Rogic has had.

I agree, Kris Commons was a very good player indeed.

Commons was superb for us, played and scored very consistently, can easily argue he was as good as Rogic in terms of his influence.

Commons all day for me

Commons by a country mile. Rogic is inconsistent and injury prone.

2 of them have been great for us in the past, Commons slightly edges it, Rogic winner against Aberdeen will be spoke about for many a year though.
